Mine is Yours-Cold War Kids

Most of the reviews and press that Cold War Kids have been getting over their Third album "Mine is Yours" has been a bit rough. While their first two albums were full of narratives from the various characters' perspectives, this album was meant to be personal and thoughtful.

In an interview with Rolling Stone Cold War Kids singer Nathan Willet commented on this by saying,  "If I really wanted to connect to it, I knew it had to be about me," he says. "But I think that's a really hard step for a band to take, because everybody else just has to kind of let you go through this on your own."

Here is there title track of their new Album "Mine is Yours"

Cold War Kids - Mine Is Yours by blue.sloth

Personally, from what I've heard, I really enjoy this new less spiky more popular route one could say they have gone. Mine Is Yours marks the first time an outside producer has worked with the quartet, the results constituting a decidedly mixed bag. Jacquire King –who's worked with KOL and Modest Mouse  – expands and broadens the band’s sound to the point where shimmering electric guitars cloak the hard edges that made them such a force to be reckoned with in the first place.

The album dropped last week and I'm am in anticipation for their performance at this years already SOLD OUT Coachella on Friday.

Some Monday Funday with LCD Soundsystem "Home"

"Yeah, do it right
And head again into space
So you can carry on
And carry on, and fall all over the place"

Feeling the Monday blues, tired from the long weekend of Football and Bud light pitchers. This song and video for Home by LCD Soundsystem always puts a smile on my face and a toe tapping feeling in my body. My favorite cameo is the Lite Brite-faced boombox robo-suit. James Murphy is pretty great at making any lackadaisical work day a lot more fun.

They are currently in Aussie land playing the BIG DAY OUT 2011 - Music Festival - Auckland, Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth with such a range of bands from Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros, Deftones, Sia to even Rammstein (Du Hast...du hast mich gefragt, und ich hab nichts gesagt...anyone?)

There are many bands, to many to even count in my head that I have yet to see, but are on the Bucket List. One of them being this Canadian supergroup Broken Social Scene. GOOD NEWS, their show January 18 at NYC's Terminal 5 will be streamed in its entirety on the Bowery Presents' YouTube channel, starting at 9 p.m. EST.

Here is a great video of a live performance of "7/4 (Shoreline)" Live at Amoeba Music

Girl Crush

I find myself craving female rock at the moment. Maybe it's because I desperately wish I could live vicariously through them, or maybe because I find it completely sexy and raw. If you are looking for THE female rocker of this time, I believe you should check out Ms. Allison Mosshart of The Kills and The Dead Weather, where her combo with Jack White might be the essence of Rock and Roll for me right now. Watching Mosshart preform is like seeing someone become possessed by the rock music devil. It's quite actually the realest of most unreal live shows.
Watch this lady preform "I'm Mad". Amazing

In an interview about her stripped down preforming style, Mosshart stated, "I love being onstage and performing in front of people because it's scary and it makes you really push yourself. You're showing what you do. It's real. The realest form of anything, I think, is performing."

Found this video that I really dig. Allison with British guitarist Jamie Hince in The Kills. Lofi Garage Rock.

I guess she is my girl crush :)
